How to update your hearing aid firmware

Get the Bernafon App
Ensure you have the latest version of the Bernafon App.

Pair your hearing aids with your phone or device
Once you've downloaded the Bernafon App, you need to pair your hearing aids with your device.

Check if a firmware update is available
- Open the app and tap Hearing aids
- Tap Hearing aid updates
- Tap Continue
What is firmware?
Firmware is built-in software that controls the mini computer inside each of your hearing aids. Firmware needs to be updated occasionally, as Bernafon continually develops and improves it.
Before performing a firmware update

Ensure that your mobile device is at least 50% charged or plugged into a power source.

Ensure that your hearing aids are not low on power.

Take off your hearing aids and keep them close to your device.
To begin a firmware update

Tap Start the update.

The LED light indicators on your hearing aids flash green while the update is in progress.
Don’t place rechargeable hearing aids in a charger, as this will turn them off.
During a firmware update

Keep the app running on the screen of your device.
Don’t open another app or close the Bernafon App during the update.

A firmware update usually takes a few minutes (maximum 10 minutes).

Your hearing aids will be muted until the update is completed.
Once the firmware update is complete

On the Update successful screen, tap OK.

You may now close the app and start using your hearing aids again.
